Good morning!
I think it's about time to announce things publicly.
After many years of shinanigans and hard slugging with some very wonderful humans,
I find that it's time to leave my post at our local Independant grocer.
It's a decision that was made with mixed emotions and my leaving has been rushed on by a recurring injury that I have been assured will heal if I stop and rest.
It means leaving many wonderful friends who have been working extra hard to cover for shortcomings due to my injury.
I will miss you all so very much and plan on listening to Tenacious D's "Dude I totally miss you" Many times over the next few months.
Please stay in touch!
There will be cookies and tea or a good stiff drink for any of you needing a friend fix.
Drop in!!
Often!!!

I am also ready to announce that our new adventure involves not only my staying home to play with the Beastie and make bread,
but also my new carreer as a nail technician.
will be taking appointments VERY SOON!!!
Stay tuned to the facebook page for the unveiling.

Here are some pics of  my life as a grocery store clerk.
These pics are and will always be a treasure, .

Much Love!

All Work and No Play......

Busy, busy, busy..... But there's time to breathe and watch the pomp poms erupt on the trees. They look Seussian...

It's SPRING!!!! That means we can go to the park!

The Tickle Trunk has been located...

This happened...
Don't judge me...

Spring time Fimo Nail Canes have been applied...

Beastie is WAY more interested in digging rocks than picking pretty flowers...

I'm a Ghostie!

Thunder and lightening...

A joyful roll in the long grass...

Teensy one stroke roses for Nammy.

Hope you're all hanging in there. Spring has hit our neck of the woods. I am officially a student again and it feels wonderful! Changes are still in the works. We're getting closer everyday to announcing them formally. Please do stay around to share the happy!

Playing with STAEDTLER Acrylic Paint

I took some time this week to play. I dug out my STAEDTLER Acrylic Paint set and my mini brushes and got my eyes all focused on tiny things.

I started with little dots. I used many things to make the dots, just experimenting. I used stylus tools or dotting tools. I used the sharp end of manicure sticks, I even tried a tiny paintbrush. They all worked with varying levels of success. The red dots at the bottom were made with the paintbrush and are more splooshes than dots I think.

Then I thought about springtime and flowers and I was off.

Hard to stop once I got going!

Then I thought about a lace doily underneath a vase of flowers.
I can see this nail decorating thing is going to be a bit all consuming. If you need me you know where I'll be!

We were feeling a bit Eastery this weekend. Beastie wouldn't eat the egg no matter how we coaxed her. She carried it around with her forever. Kept hugging it and rubbing it on her cheeks..... I guess it was just too pretty to eat?

Retrovations

 Oh HI!!!
We're almost there!
Two more trades people to have in and then all this nonsense will be done with and we can get on with the new us.
Here's a wee update so you can see a bit more of what we've been up to.
We won't do a full reveal until it's all done.
(Soooooooo much work yet to do!)

We've emptied he front bedroom and removed all the wallpaper. This job took two weeks or so. Looking back at the photos it appears to have happened by magic, but let me tell you..... there was crying and pouting involved.

It really did come off quite easily.  Top vinyl layer peeled right off. Baby beastie helped and enjoyed this immensely! Had to spray the under-layer with hot water and vinegar then scrape it off with a pastry scraper. Glad to see the walls underneath were in great shape. Almost no repairs required.

Astounded to find that we were painting the room almost exactly the same colour it was before the paper went on! If you look very closely, you can see that I've cut the corners in.

Beastie loves pulling off the tape. She was a HUGE help!

Friend (and HERO) Rich came over to help us knock a wall through. This used to be two closets. One in our foyer and another in the front bedroom. Now it's a handy entryway directly into our front room.

We put together some flat pack cupboards and added hardware store legs to give them some height. We painted them to match too!

I had the local building shop cut us some thick MDF and rout the edges to make a snappy desk! This was SOOOOOOO inexpensive! Great way to make a custom work top. I highly recommend it.

I painted to top of the table with three coats of cabinet paint. I'm LOVING this colour!!!

I made this quilt top a while back for Beastie and fell in love with the patterns and colours. I made a repeatable pattern from it and sent it in to Spoonflower to have it made up as my new theme fabric.

The new fabric arrived in just a few weeks and was more amazing than I ever dreamed! Even George was in love!

Now on to decorating!
More updates soon.
We're almost done!!!

Moving Forward

We've made HUGE leaps in the Super Secret New Plans department in the past month.
I'm EXHAUSTED!!! But Happy and very excited to soon be able to share all the news!

We were hit with another (very seasonal) winter storm this week. We've been buried in snow and the cold snap has us all cuddled in.

We've been fattening up with some delicious breakfasts made by Momma Beastie.

Here's a sneaky peak of some new colour choices in one of our new rooms!!!

Nammy had me do these for her. Very uncharacteristically blingy for her.

I made myself some springy almond gels over my natural nails. The pink colour is called Tu Tu..... It's delicious!

Another Busy Week and Some Progress

So many things to share.
We've been making steady progress with our new plans and finding plenty of time to spend with Baby Beastie and Momma Beast. Hope you stay tuned for more updates. I know it probably seems to be taking an age, but from our end it's all happening very quickly.

Came home to the Beastie making strawberry bubblegum cupcakes.

Mom has been finding some old pics and sharing them. This is her and my Father ages ago. She still looks the same to me.

It doesn't matter how much I fade the picture, you can still see that my poor index finger on my right hand was torn off and sewn back on. The injury is decades old. It sticks out kind of sideways-ish now. But it still works!

There! I've tucked it in. You can barely tell in this shot...

We took Beastie to Toys-R-Us for the first time ever! She was completely overwhelmed. Sat on the floor and looked around a bit. Momma Beast finally narrowed the choices down to three and this wonderful tree house was chosen.

We spent some time with the dearest of friends at the antique store and I was just as overwhelmed as Beastie was at the toy store. I think I might need to go back and rescue this piece. I have the perfect spot for it!

I lost my reading glasses and found them in the drive the next morning. They were perfectly fine after they warmed up.

So many changes to the house! We've removed heaps of paper from the front bedroom, It's so satisfying, peeling off the top layer in huge sheets. It's the bottom layer that's the problem. Loads of hot water and vinegar to soften the adhesive.

Beastie always wants to hide in her stuffies. She has so many! How did they all get here? Did they invite themselves in?

Tent time is the best! I still remember how cozy it felt to be tucked into my own secret space made from sheets and pillows. I challenge you all to make a pillow fort this week! You won't regret it!

I had to get Grandpa Jimmy to help with removing the cedar slats from the front bedroom closet. I was far too short to reach the top. This will be the most dramatic change to our tiny house once we're through.

I think we all worked and played very hard this week. Beastie nodded off during a particularly exciting episode of Poirot  She must have been exhausted!
